Rhodes Island In antiquity
During Antiquity there were three cities on Rhodes: Lindos, Ialysos and Kamiros. In the 411 B.C. the idea of unifying the three ancient into a new city was expressed. In the year of 408 this unification became reality and the magnificent city of Rhodes was built on the Northeastern of island.
The cities of Ialysos and Kamiros were inhabitated until the age of Alexander the Great. Lindos, however was never deserted and today’s village of the same names the uninterrupted continuance of the ancient city.
